Dental practitioners are often called upon to reserve a designated space inside their patient’s mouth for an unerupted permanent tooth or teeth. For many young patients, this means the creation of a fixed dental appliance or space maintainer. Such appliances save space for missing teeth, can maintain the arch length, and certain designs can be used to regain lost space to allow room for teeth to erupt. In addition to holding the arch length, fixed appliances can be fabricated to correct thumb and tongue habits before the arch shape becomes distorted. We construct many different types of Expansion appliances, such as the Hyrax and Haas, to widen the arch. Types of fixed appliances we make are Space maintainers, Lingual arches, Nance appliances, Expansion appliances, Habit appliances, and fixed pedodontic partials to replace missing teeth.
Functional appliances can further treatment options besides traditional braces. European and American style functional appliances can direct growth to establish good dental foundations for teeth to erupt in the patient’s mouth. Some of these types of appliances are Bionators, Schwarz, Activators, Sagittal Appliances, Nords, Activators, and more. We can also work with you to design a custom specialty appliance.
The many types of retainers that we fabricate are all designed to hold the teeth in their positions. Whether you are finishing Orthodontic Treatment or have a patient that just wishes to hold their teeth in place, let us design and fabricate your next retainer. You can rely on our retainers to secure the position of your patient’s teeth following treatment, to maintain arch length during exfoliation of primary teeth and to stimulate minor tooth movement with the addition of springs to a fixed or removable Hawley retainer. Teeth can be added to a Hawley retainer to fill space for esthetics or function for missing or congenitally missing teeth. Biteplanes can be included to increase vertical dimension and to open the bite. Normally constructed in crystal clear or pink acrylic, custom colors and glitters are available for no additional charge.
Essix retainers are often used as a substitute for Retainers. But they are also a crystal clear alternative to use to replace missing teeth during implant procedures. Contact us for assistance in using an Essix to use as an interim restoration during the implant process.
